gGadget > Playbook® OS 2.0 Launches February 21
Owners of the Blackberry Playbook tablet have been anxiously waiting for the Playbook OS 2.0 update. This update is supposed to add features like email, contacts, and calendar apps. These features were missing from the 1.0 version of the Playbook OS, much to the dismay of many users of the RIM Playbook tablet. The updated OS will also include an improved keyboard that predicts text for users. According to several sources, this new OS for the Blackberry tablet will launch on February 21.
The Playbook OS 2.0 email app will be pretty standard and will include an inbox you can sync up with several email accounts. The contacts app allows you to store information about your professional and personal contacts. Each contact you add to your Blackberry Playbook will be given a contact card, which will display their standard contact information and links to their LinkedIn and Twitter accounts. The calendar app lets you set reminders about events, and it does pretty much everything any other calendar app in the world does.
At the end of last month, RIM invited app developers to submit their apps for the new 2.0 OS by February 6. The apps that were submitted by February 6 will be included in the Blackberry App World store the day the new OS is released.
Expected Release Date: February 21, 2012
