Nikon Coolpix L120 Image Stabilization

Have you ever tried to capture the perfect shot on your camera only to end up capturing a blurry mess of an image? Blur is common in pictures if a camera doesn’t have the proper image stabilization capabilities. Fortunately for Nikon Coolpix L120 owners, the L120 has the right technology necessary to stabilize images even when a photographer’s hands are shaking or a picture-taking environment is unsteady. Image stabilization is particularly important in long range zoom cameras, which are particularly susceptible to blur without proper stabilization.

The Nikon Coolpix L120 has what’s called lens stabilization, which is often considered the best kind of image stabilization. With lens stabilization, the lens of a a camera is adjusted and designed to prevent blur and auto-correct damage done to a picture by vibration, movement, and shaking. Lens stabilization is used in most top-of-the-line digital cameras. As of now, there’s no better image stabilization alternative to lens stabilization. So, if you want to ditch blurry and unclear photos, a camera with this type of image stabilization is ideal.

The most common alternative to lens stabilization is what’s called sensor shift stabilization. This kind of stabilization allows a camera’s sensor to help prevent blur by shifting in response to shaking and unnecessary movement of a camera. Sensor stabilization is more commonly seen in DLSRs than other kinds of digital cameras. Although sensor shift stabilization is effective at helping to prevent blur in pictures, it has not been proven to be as effective as lens stabilization.

It should also be noted that in addition to lens stabilization, the Nikon Coolpix L120 has a few other image quality enhancing features like the ability to remove red eye and warn you when a person in a picture you’re about to take is blinking. Overall, the L120 is an excellent camera if you want to avoid blur and image quality reduction due to common environmental factors.
