Earlier this week, an app called IWGuide was released for iPad owners to download for free from the App Store. IWGuide lets you know when new content is added to the Netflix Instant Watch collection of movies and TV shows. It also keeps you informed of content that will be arriving to the Netflix instant service soon. Additionally, IWGuide lets you know as soon as Netflix takes down a movie or TV show from their collection of instant content offerings.

Netflix Instant Watch content is often a mixed bag. On the one hand, it gives you access to a lot of great TV shows from networks like Showtime, and it gives you access to some pretty incredible independent movies and insightful documentaries. On the other hand, it offers a pretty big selection of B movies and low-quality, canceled TV shows.

It only takes about six months of regular viewing to watch all of the good stuff Netflix offers in terms of instant content. Then you might have to take a month hiatus from your Netflix instant queue to give Netflix some time to upload some more good stuff. With IWGuide, you’ll know as soon as something you’re interested in is uploaded. If you have trouble keeping up with the best movies on Netflix Instant as they’re added, this is the app for you.

As previously mentioned, IWGuide is only available for iPad. Hopefully, the developers of this app will offer it to more devices soon, so we can all keep up with additions to the assortment of Netflix instant streaming videos.

Thank you for the review! Version 1 is limited to iPad but we are considering in the future support for iPhone/iPod. We are investigating too the support for Android.

We will be updating IWGuide content at least once a week if not more often. So far this week, we pushed 3 content update.

Feedback and reviews are welcome!

I would like to know if there is a compatible version of Netflix for the new “Ice Cream Sandwich” version of the Android operating system out yet so I can watch movies on my Android tablet.

This would be awesome. If only I had an iPad.

It looks like Netflix version 1.6 comes with support for the Ice Cream Sandwich OS. This new version of the Netflix app was released a couple of months ago, but there wasn’t much coverage about it on tech news sites. You should be able to find version 1.6 on the Android market. Please let us know if you have any trouble finding it, and we’ll try to help out in any way we can!

Thanks so much for the info. I do have an iPad but my comment is more so about Netflix. My son has been bugging the life out of me to subscribe to it for a while now. Having read both good and bad reviews, your post has sort of tipped me in the direction of no thank you. What is the point in subscribing when you fairly quickly run out of new content to watch. I think it best to stick with my onDemand programming from my cable provider. Thanks so much for the info!
