gGadget > Ice Cream Sandwich Update Coming to HTC Phones in March
Earlier today, HTC announced on their Facebook page that they plan to provide an Ice Cream Sandwich update for their HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation XE, And HTC Sensation 4G by the end of March. Shortly after these initial updates, the HTC Sensation XL will also receive an Android 4.0 update. HTC also announced that other popular HTC phones like the Rezound, Amaze 4G, EVO 3D, Vivid, and Incredible S will be upgraded to the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS later this year. HTC had previously stated that all of their phones would be receiving the upgrade at the same time. Users of HTC phones outside of the Sensation line may be a little bit disappointed about the extra wait.
Android users have been patiently waiting for ICS updates for their phones. Most of the recent Android phone releases have come with the older Gingerbread OS and a promise for an update to Ice Cream Sandwich in the near future. As of now, HTC is the only Android phone maker that has publicly state a ballpark estimate of when updates to Ice Cream Sandwich can be expected. Hopefully, this announcement from HTC will get the ball rolling at Samsung and Motorola. The world is certainly ready for the increased availability of Android’s newest, brightest, and best operating system.
HTC plans to announce more details about their ICS update agenda in the upcoming weeks. So, stay tuned!
