The Android Google Docs app received an update today that will allow users to collaborate on documents in real-time using their Android phones and tablets. This real-time collaboration feature was previously only available to those who were using Google Docs on their computers. As of today, Android users can share documents and instantly see what changes and edits other users are making to shared documents.

The new Google Docs for Android update also adds a rich-text formatting toolbar that users can take advantage of to bold, italicize, and underline text in documents. Google Docs Android app users can also use this new rich-text formatting toolbar to change the font of text, add bullet points to a document, and even change a document’s background color. These changes, in addition to the new real-time collaboration feature, will most likely make the Android Google Docs app a lot more appealing to users who want to share and work on documents when they’re away from their computers.
